Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes and it is also
known as the adult-onset diabetes. Almost 50% of the persons who have
this disease aren’t even aware of their health state but there are few
recognizable symptoms of type 2 diabetes that you can check.
Not diagnosing diabetes on time is major problem in most of the
countries and studies have shown that up to 50% of diabetes cases are
not diagnosed each year.
One of the most easiest ways to find out if you have diabetes or
not is by testing the level of glucose from your blood in different
periods of the day and noting down the results. If the levels are too
high then you will be diagnosed with diabetes.
But you are unlikely to test the level of glucose from your blood
until you recognize some of the symptoms of type 2 diabetes. Some of
the earliest signs include chronic fatigue, a feeling of unease and
weakness. But because this can be signs of many disorders and
diseases, is unlikely one will take them into consideration. Next
symptom that can send you thinking is the excessive urine production,
medically know as polyuria. Excessive means over 2.5L of urine in a 24
hours period. This symptom is usually associated with another one:
polydipsia or excessive thirst and fluid intake frequently encountered
to all diabetics.
Due to osmotic effects caused by the polydipsia and the high level
of glucose in the blood your vision might become blurred and you will
need a new pair of glasses. If you’ve gotten this far without
diagnosing the diabetes and starting a treatment, the fatigue from the
beginning will turn into lethargy, both physical and mental.
Other symptoms of type 2 diabetes can be unexplained weight loss,
an itching of the external genitalia or excessive bowel movements.
As soon as you recognize any of these symptoms you should go to a
doctor and check to see what is the problem. If you already have other
cases of diabetes in your family then you shouldn’t even wait so long
to get tested. A test once in a while will keep you healthy and away
from other risks any of these symptoms bring with them. You can also
learn what methods of prevention are available for you and try them.
It has been demonstrated that type 2 diabetes can often be delayed
with a few years through proper nutrition and daily exercises.
